Transport Supervisor

Job Description 

As a team leader, the Supervisor is required to maintain high standards of behaviour and personal appearance thereby providing guidance for the other colleagues working on site. Personal Protective equipment is required to be worn on site. The Transport Supervisor may also be required to complete rounds and therefore a full UK clean driving licence is essential as well as previous driving experience. The ideal candidate must also have prior supervisor experience.

This role is based at our Middlesbrough depot and working hours are 5 days a week, across a 7-day operation. It will therefore remain a requirement for working different shifts, mainly early morning starts and have flexibility with working patterns. Additional shifts and hours may need to be worked where required as this is a necessary remit for this role. 

Key responsibilities of the job: 

  • Ensure all Drivers both own and agency have had the required pre start induction training on all company required areas to ensure the colleagues safety and wellbeing.

  • Ensure that Drivers are working within their qualified legislation constraints via monitoring of Drivers records, and checking and training/ briefing of any Drivers infringements as generated.

  • Ensure all drivers (including agency) are aware of the requirement to empty and clean out vehicles before leaving site.

  • Thorough planning of vehicle maintenance is required by the TS, and needs not to compromise any food safety or the daily delivery schedule requirements.

  • Ensure vehicle service, defect and any maintenance records are kept up to date and remain fully compliant and available should there be any legal or VOSA requirement to view.

  • Sites operate 363 days per annum and it is therefore essential that the TS plans and maintains working patterns via a rota for all Drivers.

  • Ensure all delivery rounds have the required resource, swapping and amending routes where required for all journeys regardless of type of vehicle. In cases of short notice and where required delivery rounds may need to be completed by the TS. 

  • Checking, signing and completing of all necessary driver paperwork and round sheets.

  • Monitoring staff holidays and sickness.

  • Completing driver interviews and driving assessments.

  • This list is not exhaustive and there could be need for this role to complete other additional reasonable tasks when business needs dictate.

 

Key Skills:

  • Previous supervisor experience working in a transport environment

  • Previous driver experience

  • Have had a full UK / EU / EEA driving licence for at least 24 months with no more than 6 penalty points

  • Are safe and courteous drivers

  • Are personable with a good sense of humour and excellent communication skills

  • Are able to take the initiative and use common sense

Product Development Technologist 

Job Description 

Supporting the NPD team, On a Roll Sandwich Company are looking for a full time Product Development Technologist to assist with new and existing development projects. This role would be suitable for someone with previous experience in product development. Candidates must have a passion for food and be a strong team player. This opportunity is ideal for a candidate beginning their career in the food industry.

 

Key responsibilities of the job: 

  • To assist the Product Development Manager on all new and existing product development projects

  • To assist in recipe development using recipe sheets and sample materials to develop and send finished samples to our customers

  • Carry out taste panel testing trials for existing and new products developed as part of the development process

  • To liaise with suppliers in sourcing of new raw materials, costings and ensuring our administration is up to date with correct ingredient specifications

  • To assist with the creation of finished product specification sheets for customers.

  • Provide samples requested by customers on time, with supporting paperwork including preliminary specification details.

  • Communicating effectively with various departments to achieve project objectives

  • Following all BRC, HACCP requirements during NPD work activities

  • Organising & implementing factory trials and supporting NPD Manager in other tasks to achieve on-time & efficient launches

  • Communicating the outcomes & next steps following factory trials (e.g. new products, raw materials, packaging or processes) to the relevant teams

Customer Service Administrator

Job Description 

On a Roll Sandwich Company are currently looking for an experienced Customer Services Assistant/ Administrator to join the team. Working alongside the Customer Service and Production Admin teams, the job will include dealing with customer enquiries and ensuring all customer orders are inputted correctly. This also includes routinely checking customers’ orders and setting up new customers onto ordering systems.

This this a full position working Monday – Friday and working on an on-call basis 1 weekend out of 5, moving to 1 in 6 as the business grows. The ideal candidate must have experience working in a customer services role, dealing with customers on the phone as well as being able to report, and include data input, into various Excel spreadsheets. 

Key responsibilities of the job: 

  • Answering incoming calls

  • Taking new enquiries

  • Responding to any questions or queries customers have

  • Routinely checking on customers including: 

  1. Their orders – are they going up or down

  2. Suggesting products they can orders to help boost their sales

  3. Visiting customers where necessary

  4. Offering POS materials

  5. Asking if they would like tasting days

  • Pulling off sales data and analysing it on a regular basis

  • Contact customers about new products and anything they might be interested in

Job Description:

Canteen Cook

Job Description 

On a Roll Sandwich Company are recruiting for a canteen cook. This is a permanent position. Working hours are roughly 30 hours a week spread across 4 – 5 days including weekends. Working days will vary across the week and is scheduled on a rota to ensure full cover across the week.

Working within the canteen team, you will be responsible for preparing, cooking and serving breakfast and lunch to employees across the factory. This also includes heating up hot eats (such as toasties and paninis). A basic level of skill and previous kitchen experience is required for this role. The ideal candidate must also be able to work in a fast-paced environment, managing busy lunch periods and able to work alone.

Dispatch Manager

Job Description:

Working together with the Logistics Manager and Supervisors within the Labelling and Dispatch department, all applications must have a professional and positive attitude, to assist in driving the team forward. The successful candidate must hold excellent organisation and communication skills and effectively prioritise the departments and their workload whilst leading an established team. Working hours are 5 days across the week, including weekends. Start times vary between 9.30am/ 10.30am and finish times are dependent on production volumes. 

For this position, the successful candidate must have previous experience of working in a fast-paced picking/ packing environment. Previous experience of a management position and people management is also essential for this position. This position would be suitable for someone who can work in a very fast paced, manual and high-volume environment as this is very hands on.

Key responsibilities of the job:

  • Correct packing of all customer orders, efficient use of resources within the picking area.

  • Complete final quality checks.

  • Maintaining and controlling the optimum number of staff required to ensure a profitable and efficient picking area.

  • Ensure the products are picked to exact customer requirements – undamaged, hygienically and without waste of manpower or time.

  • Ensure that job training is carried out and recorded, so that all staff are interchangeable and quality procedure is adhered to.

  • Build a team and maintain discipline during working times.

  • Briefing and constantly communicating the company requirements and team performances to staff.

Job Description:

Working together with the Dispatch Manager, Logistic Manager and Supervisors within the Labelling and Picking department of a busy food Dispatch area, all applicants must have a professional and positive attitude, to assist in driving the team forward.

 

The successful candidate will also hold excellent organisational and communication skills and effectively prioritise the departments and their own workload, whilst motivating and leading an established team. This is a very fast paced environment therefore, all applicants must be used to working in timely and efficient manner, to ensure all company targets and deadlines are met.

 

For this position, the successful candidate must have previous experience of working in a fast-paced picking/ packing environment. This position would be suitable for someone who can work in a very fast paced, manual and high-volume environment as this is very hands on. 

 

Key responsibilities of the job:

  • Ensure the efficient running of the labelling and picking area of responsibilities (AOR) by liaising with Office Staff, Production Managers, Production Line Supervisors and Logistic Manager.

  • Set and maintain KPI’s (to include Picking Ratios)

  • Carryout and maintain a training programme for all staff within your AOR.

  • Ensure their AOR is maintained to the required standard and any faults are reported immediately.

  • Ensure the quality standards of all products are maintained by Labelling and Picking Staff and that they meet the required standards.

  • Set a good example to all other staff in both manner and conduct.

  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, as well as Health & Safety regulations.

  • Ensure systems are in place to ensure all customers’ orders are picked accurately.

Picker Packer / Dispatch Operative

Job Description 

Working alongside the Dispatch Manager and Supervisors, you will be responsible for ensuring customers’ orders are picked and labelled correctly, ready for dispatch. This is a fast-paced job which requires customers’ orders to be picked in a timely and efficient manner.

Current working hours are 9.30am/10.30am starts until finish. Working 5 days a week, across a 7-day production, which includes weekends. Basic maths skills will also be required for this job role. 

 

Key responsibilities of the job: 

 

  • Ensuring all customer orders are picked in a timely manner, and the product leaves the factory meeting company specification with particular attention paid to quality

  • Ensure the products are picked to exact customer requirements – undamaged, hygienically and without waste of manpower or time.

Production Operative

Job Description:

Working in a food production environment, ensuring the preparation of the product is carried out effectively and efficiently, as directed. The nature of the work means that you will be working in a chilled, ambient or freezer environment. Work can be repetitive so candidates must be able to keep motivated throughout the whole shift.

Working hours are either shift patterns of either 6am – 2pm or 2pm to 10pm or start times tend to be 6-8am but can vary with finish times dependent on production volumes. This is for full time permanent position, working 5 days a week across a 7-day production, including weekends. Please note we currently have no vacancies for part time hours.
